Andy Dell won the 2008 March Christian Award for Conservation

“Andy Dell won the 2008 March Christian Award for Conservation in Genetic Bio-Diversity (Technical category) for his research into Cleveland Bay Horses through computer –based breed analysis and the creation of Society breeding programmes for reduction of inbreeding and genetic retention  . . . the Award presentation was particularly notable this year, as the 2007 Award was made to HRH Prince Charles and the Awards Ceremony was held at Highgrove House [Prince Charles residence] . . . Our partner in this award is the Rare Breeds Survival Trust…”

Congratulations to Andy, and we are looking forward to reading the results of his mitochrondial research with purebred mares.

Other News: Dr. Gus Cothran spoke at the Equus Survival Trust (EST) Festivale giving a slide presentation to all participants.  The presentation was filmed, and we plan to obtain a copy for the CBHSNA.   Dr. Cothran was impressed by the number and variety of rare breeds attending the event.  Congratulations to all who attended and sponsored the Festivale.

The CBHSNA is always looking for more purebred hair samples for Dr. Gus Cothran research on DNA purebred Genotyping.   Hair sample testing is paid by the CBHSNA, and we have limited funding for this project.   Submission forms for DNA available by clicking here.
